Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic Celebrates Its 7th Anniversary with a Spirit of Togetherness and Tangible Contributions

Labuan Bajo, March 7, 2025 — Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic (PLC) officially kicked off the celebrations for its 7th anniversary with great spirit and enthusiasm. Under the theme “Growing Together, Sowing Meaning,” the celebration reaffirmed PLC’s commitment to growing alongside the community and making a tangible contribution to the surrounding environment.

The event was officially opened by the Regent of West Manggarai Regency, represented by the Head of the PPO Office, Mr. Yohanes Hanny. Also in attendance were representatives from high schools and vocational high schools under the guidance of Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic, as well as various other invited guests. Their presence demonstrated strong support for the development of higher education in West Manggarai.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the organizing committee is holding various activities and competitions involving both internal and external participants. Some of the featured events include Zumba and Aerobics, a Cooking Competition, a Fun Walk, a Blood Drive, a Beach Cleanup at Pede Beach, an English Debate, a Chess Competition, a Futsal Tournament, and a Mobile Legends Tournament. This entire series of events will run until the celebration’s climax on April 11, 2025.

Full Support from the Local Government

In his remarks, the Head of the Youth and Sports Agency stated that the West Manggarai Regency Government provides full support to Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic as the only institution of higher education in the region. He also expressed appreciation for the theme of the 7th Anniversary celebration, which he considered highly inspiring because it reflects a broad vision for advancing education and community engagement.

He emphasized that this vision must be implemented by the entire academic community, including students, so that they can grow and make tangible contributions. “Our duty as the government is to create opportunities so that the outcomes of this education can benefit the broader community,” he said. In addition, he also highlighted the importance of education that focuses not only on the transfer of knowledge, but also on character building, ethics, and students’ social responsibility.

Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic Is Committed to Continued Growth

In his remarks, the Director of Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic expressed his gratitude for the institution’s seven-year journey, which has been filled with achievements. Under the theme “Growing Together, Sowing Meaning,” he expressed his hope that PLC would continue to grow alongside the community, both academically and socially.

“It is hoped that the establishment of the Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic will have a tangible positive impact on the local community in Labuan Bajo. Every step of progress we make must be grounded in a spirit of collaboration and mutual support, so that we can bring about positive change—not only in the field of education but also in various other areas,” he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that various programs aimed at improving student quality—both domestically and abroad—are part of PLC’s broader vision to make a tangible contribution to local, national, and international communities.

The Excitement of the Opening Ceremony

As part of the festivities marking the opening of the 7th Anniversary Celebration, all participants took part in Zumba and aerobics sessions, as well as a dance competition among academic programs and high schools and vocational schools under the guidance of PLC. The event was lively and energetic, reflecting a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participants.

In addition, a blood drive organized in collaboration with the West Manggarai Regency branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) successfully collected dozens of units of blood, which will be distributed to those in need. The Beach Cleanup event, which involved students and local residents at Pede Beach, also serves as tangible evidence of PLC’s contribution to environmental conservation.

The opening ceremony of the 7th Anniversary celebration concluded with the hope that all participants would benefit from this event and remain committed to continuing to contribute to the development of Elbajo Commodus Polytechnic. This celebration served as an important opportunity to strengthen a sense of community and motivate the academic community to build a better future.
