Politeknik eLBajo Commodus Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Master of Applied Marketing, Innovation & Technology (MIT) Building

LABUAN BAJO – Politeknik eLBajo Commodus (PLC) officially commenced the construction of its Master of Applied Marketing, Innovation & Technology (MIT) building through a groundbreaking ceremony held on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The project marks a significant milestone in the advancement of higher vocational education in Labuan Bajo and reinforces PLC’s commitment to delivering education that responds to the evolving needs of industry, technology, and innovation.

The Master of Applied Marketing, Innovation & Technology (MIT) program is designed to develop highly skilled professionals capable of addressing the challenges of business transformation and the digital economy through practice-oriented learning, applied research, and close collaboration with industry partners.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by representatives of the West Manggarai Regency Government, the leadership of the Bangkit Anak NegeriKu Foundation, the management of Politeknik eLBajo Commodus, strategic partners, members of the academic community, and invited guests. The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone symbolized the beginning of a new educational facility that will enhance learning, applied research, and innovation at the graduate level.

The Vice Regent of West Manggarai expressed appreciation for the commencement of the MIT building construction, describing it as a strategic step toward strengthening the quality of human resources in the region.

In his remarks, Dr. Yulianus Weng, M.Kes., Vice Regent of West Manggarai, stated that the establishment of an applied master’s program at Politeknik eLBajo Commodus represents a long-term investment in regional development, particularly in preparing professionals who are ready to meet the demands of industry and technological advancement.

“The construction of this building demonstrates Politeknik eLBajo Commodus’ strong commitment to enhancing the quality of higher vocational education. The West Manggarai Regency Government warmly welcomes the establishment of the Master of Applied MIT Program, as it will produce highly competent, innovative, and future-ready professionals who will contribute to regional development,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the construction would proceed according to schedule so that the facility could soon support teaching and learning activities, applied research, and collaboration among higher education institutions, government, and industry. According to him, such synergy is essential for fostering innovation and strengthening the competitiveness of West Manggarai at both the national and global levels.

The Chairwomen of the Bangkit Anak NegeriKu Foundation also emphasized that the construction of the building forms part of the institution’s long-term vision to expand public access to high-quality vocational education at the master’s degree level.

“The construction of the Master of Applied MIT Building is not merely about creating new infrastructure; it is about creating a space where innovation, collaboration, and future leadership can flourish. We aspire for PLC graduates to become agents of change who make meaningful contributions to both regional and national development.”

The new facility will feature modern classrooms, technology-enabled learning spaces, collaborative work areas, and applied research facilities designed to provide an innovative learning environment that aligns with the evolving needs of industry.
