Monday, April 23 2018, was a historic day for eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic
In connection with the submission of the eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic Decree (SK) from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti), represented by the Kopertis Region VIII Coordinator, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Tie Astawa. Apart from the management of the Bangkit Anak Negeriku Foundation, the event which took place at the Luwansa Hotel, West Manggarai Regency was also attended by Drs. Augustine Ch. Dula, as well as a number of local government officials, representatives of the hotel industry, representatives of high schools and vocational schools in Labuan Bajo City, as well as a number of media journalists.
In his speech, the Regent of West Manggarai really appreciated the struggle and hard work of eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic from its inception until the issuance of the establishment permit or decision from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. The Regent assessed that the existence of the Polytechnic could support the tourism industry in West Manggarai after the designation of Labuan Bajo as a priority tourism destination. It is hoped that the campus will be able to prepare quality and competitive human resources in the tourism sector. Apart from that, the presence of the Polytechnic campus is also expected to improve the economic sector in West Manggarai. “Just imagine if there were hundreds of young people registering on eLBajo, there would be so much money circulating in West Manggarai,” he explained.
Prof. Astawa also said that this decision must be utilized properly so that this Polytechnic is at the forefront in NTT because currently the Polytechnic campus has become a role model. “In Bali, establishing higher education institutions is difficult, but if polytechnics are opened as widely as possible, establishing polytechnics is much more difficult. Polytechnics are not easy to set up, but they are widely open,“ he explained. Noviana Halim, Chair of the Foundation, revealed that Polytechnic always has a strong commitment to producing graduates who are able to compete with other higher education institutions. “”Our commitment is to create quality human resources who are able to compete in the tourism sector,” he stressed.
Apart from handing over the Decree, this event also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with several related parties, including the West Manggarai Regional Government represented by the Regent Drs. Augustine Ch. Dula, Luwansa Hotel, Puri Sari Hotel, PT. Lembawai Indah Makmur, PT. Indonesia Ferry Property, PT. Forisa Nusapersada, as well as several vocational schools in Labuan Bajo and Ruteng. It is hoped that with the signing of this agreement, cooperation can be established that will benefit Manggarai children. Finally, the award ceremony closed with a dinner and a hospitable event.
